'Hijacked' man up for murder
A man who told the police that he was the victim of a hijacking was later arrested for a double murder at a tavern in Nongoma, northern KwaZulu-Natal .
Police were patrolling the area on Saturday morning when they came across a wounded man .
He told t hem that he had been shot in a hijacking. They rushed him to hospital.
He was placed under police guard and Nongoma police later linked him to the killing of a 69-year-old tavern owner and 25-year-old security guard at Khangode tavern.
KwaZulu-Natal police spokesman Captain Thulani Zwane said the man, a robbery suspect, was shot by the tavern owner in self-defence.
He and two of his alleged accomplices will appear in court today .
