MUSIC FESTIVAL: Oppikoppi

Enter Shikari.

OPPIKOPPI

WHO needs the muddy Glastonbury festival when we have dusty Oppikoppi?

Get to Northam, Limpopo, next weekend for four days of music on five stages - and lots of booze.

Featuring a host of metal, rock, acoustic and other genres, this year's Oppikoppi, which is titled "Sweet Thing", promises to be a big party.

Headlined by Bullet for My Valentine, it will host international bands Eagles of Death Metal, Enter Shikari and now US-based local legends Seether.

South African acts include Jack Parow, Shadowclub, Pestroy and Fokofpolisiekar. The festival welcomes newcomers The Muffinz and The Anti Retro Vinyls on the three large stages.

Also performing is the Idols star Freddie van Dango and party favourites Desmond and the Tutus.

The electro stage will host the Balkonology DJ Toby2Shoes.

Die Klein Bar will showcase acoustic artists including singer-songwriter Joshua Grierson. "Rockumentaries" will be shown at a cinema venue.

Tickets for the August 9 to 11 festival are R700 and specials are available on the web: www. oppikoppi.co.za. No tickets are sold at the gate. For more info email info@hilltoplive.co.za or call 012-326-0560
