De Klerk fights to keep wealth secret in divorce case

Sapa | 03 September, 2012 00:1215 Comments
BAD MEMORY: Ex-president FW de Klerk

Former president FW de Klerk will continue his legal battle to keep his financial status out of the public eye.

Nicole Noordien is divorcing De Klerk's son, Willem, and has demanded R33000 a month in maintenance from the senior De Klerk because his son often missed payments.

It has been reported that a Randburg magistrate ordered that De Klerk make known his finances by today. However, De Klerk won an urgent bid in the Johannesburg High Court on Thursday allowing him to keep his financial status confidential.

The interdict was granted pending the outcome of a review in the same high court.

In court papers, De Klerk claimed he had already given financial support to his son and his two granddaughters by means of a trust.

De Klerk insisted that disclosing his personal finances was administratively illegal, and would infringe his right to privacy and damage his reputation.

De Klerk said that, until his son could afford to pay, money for the children's maintenance and school fees would be drawn from the trust.

What a sorry loser. First he sold the country down the drain and the he stole so much from the people that he now is ashamed of his wealth. It seems he also failed dismally in the upbringing of his kids.

You're blaming the man for the failure of his son's marriage? Really?

And the soon-to-be ex daughter-in-law needs to take a leap off the highest cliff, sans a parachute. Asking the pop-in-law to declare his assets, and pay her? What an outrage!

Is Nicole not working? If she wants R33000 a month, what would her contribution be to her household?

@ArseneLupin.........

Nicole is at work as u view her demmand of pay. De Klerk knws tht if he shud expose his wealth not one person will go down bt many. Nicole is stl doing him a favour bcz she knws in De Klerks clozet thre re skeletons, so this game is very dangerous & its a revolutionary act to fyt a Leader who once led an Era. Bt nw he is gng to pay thru his own blood..... Its a reverse mindset game..... I pray she wins because she has the cards & the is motive for murder even..... THIS WOMAN IS BRAVE & CLEVER.... SHE AINT NO GOLD DIGGER BT A GOLD TAKER FROM THE DIGGER.

The biggest mercenaries are those who sell our forefathers' sweat to inhuman dictatorships like China. First they isolated the country with calls for boycott and sanctions. And we went along with this, without realising that the elite were immune from belt-tightening, as they enjoyed donations in the bushes, whilst we had to sacrifice our lives for them to profit by selling our future wealth. Life really sucks.

...Rightly or wrongly, males end up fracked up in return for their own..

..But it would be expectable that people with high education, high positions or any other high would be more civilized, not the opposite.......

The people who actually rub their hands with genuine glee, are the lawyers.........

Are there still white people who believe De Klerk sold "their" country? To think that this country was bankrupt and heavily indebted in 1994. What was there to sell?

They rightfully believe so because it is simply the truth. And South Africa was for more self sufficient then what it is now despite economic sanctions imposed on it by the ANC sympathizer countries.
SA was bankrupted after 1994 through fraud corruption committed by the present regime.
Furthermore note that the rand was strong, the economy vibrant and the credit rating high.
and the government did not have to constantly go overseas to beg for investments, loans and donations.

I really wish there was a way to force FW to declare so we can know how much he put in Swiss bank before selling the rest of equity to “Democracy” in that way many will reveal themselves and so will be the rest of sovereign wealth that is stored secretly in Swiss accounts.
@ SecretVoice, it’s so sad that the flag you use as your picture is imposed on you, if you and Tronns of this country believe democracy is a “sell out” of apartheid. Unfortunately your prosecutions will affect many un-evil white people you clouded in your blanket of apartheid. TimeWillTell

Let us not confuse politics with human rights please.
This is personal and I'm just wondering how come was there nothing as this bitter said about him by us people fingering out of hatred and anger..
I personally support his (NPW) answer and decision:
If I was in the same situation I'd do the same!
