Now's your chance to be Whitney

If you think you can act and sing, and you look like Whitney Houston, you stand a chance of becoming an international star.

The Australian production company Showtime has exhausted its efforts at looking for somebody in the US to play the lead role in its tribute to Houston, The Greatest Love of All. Now it is coming to South Africa in search of its star.

After their failed search in the US, the producers have opened the door to South Africans to try out for the role of one of the world's greatest singers.

Houston, who died last year in a hotel bath, was one of the world's best-selling singers. She sold more than 170 million albums, singles and videos worldwide.

The coroner found that the cause of death was heart disease and a drug overdose.

Showtime has produced shows about Queen, The Beatles, the Eagles, Abba and the legendary Michael Jackson.

The Greatest Love of All is expected to tour the US from mid-2013 and South Africa in late 2013.

Auditions for the part of Houston will be at the Johannesburg Civic Theatre on October 3, at Cape Town's Artscape Theatre on October 5 and at Durban's Sibaya Casino on October 7.
