SA doctor weds Annie

A South African doctor, Mitch Besser, has convinced singing icon Annie Lennox to walk down the aisle with him despite her vow not to marry again after two failed marriages, the Daily Mail has reported.

The 57-year-old former Eurythmics vocalist married Besser in front of 150 close friends and family in London on Saturday. The actor Colin Firth and comedienne Ruby Wax were in attendance, as the pair, who met in 2009, recited their vows.

Besser is the founder and medical director of Mothers2Mothers, which looks after single mothers and children with Aids - a cause Lennox is passionate about.

But their courtship drew drama. Besser's former wife of 28 years, Debra Jackson, reportedly filed for divorce after pictures surfaced of Besser and Lennox walking hand-in-hand.

After the ceremony, Lennox tweeted a picture of her pink and white flowers with a caption: "Wedding flowers: 15th September 2012."

She was married to Uri Fruchtmann for 12 years. Before that her husband was Radha Raman, whom she left after only a year.
