Nkandla overcharge 'possible'
The Department of Public Works is investigating the possibility that the cost of the upgrading of President Jacob Zuma's homestead in Nkandla has been inflated, the deputy minister, Jeremy Cronin said.
Yesterday, members of two parliamentary portfolio committees were involved in heated debates about the cost of the upgrading of the homestead, reportedly R237-million, and of roads leading to it, reportedly R582-million.
Cronin told the public works committee that it was possible that the department had been overcharged for the Nkandla improvements.
"We are determined to find out whether there has been an inflation of costs," he said.
Public Works Minister Thulas Nxesi has denied that the upgrading will cost R237-million but has refused to give another figure.
Cronin told parliament that his department was working with the auditor-general, who had reported on the possibility of irregularities in the project.
Public works portfolio committee chairman Catherine Mabuza and DA public works spokesman Anchen Dreyer argued about whether follow-up questions would be allowed.
Dreyer insisted: "We have rights as people, as MPs representing the voters, the people of South Africa, to question and get as much as we need from the auditor-general."
A similar argument ensued in the transport portfolio committee.
Committee chairman Ruth Bhengu dismissed the DA's questions as "politically motivated".

Couldn't have agreed with you more!

So now this is Vorster's fault? Geez people, go dig the thieving sods up if it bothers you so much. Or is it that you long for the days of apartheid and cannot understand why we kicked the Nats out?

Your analysis is true but a defense rather than a reality, you can only peep/trick intellectual dwarfs.
The previous regime was legally and deliberately discriminatory and the present one is not but legally inclusive as such with due respect refrain from comparing two distinct incomparable regimes.

"... understand why we kicked the Nats out?"
I'm so glad that you used the word WE. Now, all WE need to do is to get the ANC supporters to understand that they are no better than the NAT supporters of the 1970s.
Mike123
Try as you may to defend the criminals of the ANC, the fact remains that both regimes raped/are raping our country and her people. So the former bunch of criminals did it illegally, and the current bunch of criminals are doing it legally. Does that make it any better?

Posted 226 days agoIf you think about it, once the indignation subsides the Zuma’s bravado is funny. If only Zuma’s troupe was aiming for laughs, and not a national democratic revolution.
But really now, who needs 10 underground air-conditioned living areas if we still have children with no text books?
It’s funny, really, Zuma’s homestead is perched in Nkandla, an eyesore of corruption. Public Works denies this, but has failed to prove to anyone the deal’s legit.
The honest truth and reality is that only a person whose IQ is at room temperature can really justify such a loot of a century, frankly it is **just impossible to defend against the evolution of creation** under such a catastrophe of poverty.
The reason why Zuma is defending that is because is a ‘’joke’’ and the ‘’joke’’ is on us and the national democratic revolution, which so many people are still waiting for.

Posted 226 days agoEver heard of the saying "two wrongs don't make a right"?
Just because the Nats did it, doesn't make it right that the present government does it. One thing going the apartheid government (probably the only thing) is that they made sure the white people on the ground benefitted.
Unfortunately, the same cannot be said for the anc government - the only people they look after is themselves - blow the poor, many of whom fought the same hard struggle as the anc cadres who are now pocketing millions.

Posted 226 days agoNow that the s.it hit the fan repeatedly, we hear the less arrogant statements from Minstrels and others, from Nxesi to Cronin, yet still trying to justify the unjustifiable and obscene money pilfering in times of need to build Zuma's own Pukingham Palace..........
BUT!.....the numerous ANC minions and morons defending their own aggressor always recur to the familiar motto and beliefs:....."They did it, why not me??"".........."They were wrong and did wrong, therefore I am justified to do more wrong"""............

The arm of the law is very long, no crime thats is old , as we talk today the Germans are still charging Nazis for Anti Semantic brutality, if you are more concern about the country the AFU can do something to recover that money other than to be used by ANC amongst each other.
Numerous people were killed by BJ Vorster in covering up that scandal , its sad that you white South Africans are more sensitive when issues of immorality is directed at you. According to white South Africans democracy is demonstrated when it is in favour of you not against you.
Stop trying to twist my statements I have said all over my blogs "thumbs up to ANC for appointing PP" you can check all my blogs I have never defended corruption in my life, its strange when I express myself against white fellow , Im welcomed by resistance and anger. There is devil with you whites
