ARMED WITH LOVE

PRINT, paper, typography and packaging fanatic Wiehan de Jager uses his artistic skills to breathe new life into boring iPhone covers. He also owns Dialogue 8 Creative Communication. His products are available from Society 6, a sales platform for artists from around the world.

This case is R315, available from http://society6.com

PICTURE-PLATED

Elise Wessels works as an illustrator in Cape Town. After spending two-and-a-half years at the Am I Collective studio, she now works independently and loves applying her talent to ceramics.

Her work is inspired by animals and nature, and she exhibits her creations at Wolves in Johannesburg.

See http: //blackfan.co.za. Price of plate on request.

ART ON A SCARF

Lucy MacGarry believes that boundaries between art and design can be questioned by creating functional pieces that also hold valuable, aesthetic or sculptural qualities. Thus L'Mad was born. She's initiated a project in which South African artists print their designs onto limited-edition silk scarves that can be worn traditionally or hung in a frame behind glass. This piece is by Cape Town artist Michael Taylor.

Available for R1200 from http://lmadcollection.com

THE LIGHT TOUCH

Renowned artist and illustrator Colwyn Thomas has applied his unique aesthetic to creating light boxes. This one at first appears to be a macabre skull but turns out be made up of beautiful koi fish.

From Thomas at info@ stonethe crows.co.za, starting at R750. See www.colwyn art.com
