Metro FM has announced the addition of veteran disc jockey Phat Joe in its new lineup.

Phat Joe, real name Majota Kambule, resigned from his popular breakfast show on Cape Town's Heart FM in October to focus on his entertainment and gossip show Real Goboza on SABC 1.

He replaces Carol Ralefeta, the host of the Divine Edge show between 5am and 9am on Saturdays.

The new lineup went live yesterday.

But the 1st Avenue team of Glen Lewis, Melanie Bala and Unathi Msengana, Azania Mosaka's Total Bliss, Tbo Touch's The Touchdown and DJ Sbu's Sound Revival slots remain unchanged.

Sister station 5fm also chose stability and announced an unchanged lineup of Gareth Cliff (6am to 9am), Rob Vember (noon to 3pm), DJ Fresh (3pm to 7pm), Roger Goode (7pm to 10pm) weekdays and Thomas Msengana for weekend breakfast between 7am and 10am.

Highveld Stereo held on to its stars Darren Simpson, Pabi Moloi and Anele Mdoda in their usual slots.

Bonang Matheba, who has become quite adept at teasing her fans, had tongues wagging when she tweeted: "The last show. Hallelujah!!! #Yfm."

She later explained: "No, I'm not leaving Y, but you're going to be hearing me popping up somewhere [else]. I can't tell you where though, but it is during the week."

She later added: "This is the last time you're going to be hearing us on a Sunday or a Saturday, ever. And no, this is no April Fools' joke."

Matheba will now be heard on Tuesdays between 9am and 10am in the Hot 99 R&B, and also in inserts on celebrity interviews, which will air across all shows.
