South African Airways said yesterday that it had received two awards, from an independent information service and a German trade magazine.

Spokesman Tlali Tlali said SAA was honoured as "the most on-time airline in the world" and as "best business-class product".

The airline won the "most on-time airline in the world" award from FlightStats, a global flight and airport information services provider, he said.

According to a FlightStats report, SAA beat Gulf Air, delivering 92.26% of its flights on time in March. Gulf Air managed 92.11%. Other major international flights had delivered, on average, 78.76% of their flights to the arrival gate within 15 minutes of schedule.

The award for best business product among Star Alliance carriers was given by FVW, a German travel trade magazine. SAA topped the list with 94%.
