Struggle veteran and ANC MP Winnie Madikizela-Mandela's moveable goods are expected to go under the hammer.

The auction will take place at the former ANC Women's League president's Orlando West, Soweto, home on Tuesday next week.

This follows a judgment against her in the Johannesburg Magistrates' Court on May 6 2011.

She was hauled before the courts in 2009 by Abbotts College, which trades as the Independent Institute of Education, in a bid to recover money owed to it.

According to court documents, Madikizela-Mandela in January 2008 agreed to pay Abbotts College R40000 in accommodation fees for Nobantu Vutela, cited as her great-niece.

According to the agreement, Madikizela-Mandela was to pay Abbotts R10000 on Vutela's admission, and two payments of R15000 each by June 30 2008 .

The c ourt issued a summons in 2009 when she defaulted on the payments . She was sued after failing to pay an outstanding amount of R20000, including interest and legal fees.

Madikizela-Mandela earns about R900000 a year as an MP.

The assets expected to be auctioned include about 50 paintings, a table and four chairs, another table with 10 chairs, a 24-piece silver tea service, books and sculptures.

Yandisa Dudula, a lawyer representing Madikizela-Mandela, did not respond to requests for comment.
