It is important to eat a balanced diet of 80% alkaline and 20% acid foods. Stress, hormones, incorrect eating and general health affect skin condition.

Take an alkaline base powder every morning to neutralise the system. Taking anti-oxidants is a must and the new generation of collagen capsules and powder, although not proven, are certainly worth considering.

Hydration can make skin look plumper. That's not just what you drink, but eating fresh produce as well. Juicy fruits and vegetables supply a low-level constant feed of water rather than the rush you get when glugging too much at once.

Fresh produce also supplies a wide variety of nutrients, many with antioxidant properties that offer a degree of protection against free radicals that can affect skin quality, as well as help promote liver function.

Essential fats, the good ones found in fish, nuts, seeds and their oils, help as they are an integral part of every cell and seal in moisture.

An efficient digestive system will add to the skin's quality by effectively eliminating waste matter, enhanced by fibre in the diet as well as probiotics found in miso, sauerkraut and yoghurt.
