Leaner and meaner, TV star Boity Thulo is shedding the little princess image and packing on the muscle - but not without eating the odd cinnamon bun.

A face of Iman Cosmetics until recently, she's swapped her make-up kit for protein shakes after this week being named an ambassador for sports nutrition supplement brand USN.

Thulo joins the likes of Olympic swimmer Cameron van der Burgh, Proteas batsman AB de Villiers, Springbok scrumhalf Francois Hougaard and TV personality Graeme Richards in representing the brand.

And she's made sure to keep her followers on Twitter and Instagram updated on her progress, under hashtags including #hellosummer, #itsallaboutresults, #discipline, #noexcuses and #healthfirst (with the odd picture of a caramel tart and beef biltong packs), and pictures of body-sculpting gels.

The Rockville actress and Skyroom Live presenter said yesterday: "I don't really have quick-fixes . there have been a couple of times where I failed terribly at dieting.

"It's the most frustrating thing when you have not yet mastered the ability to say no to your cravings. It's happened plenty of times," she said.

Thulo still craves cinnamon buns and "those cute and awesome tiny packs" of Eet-Sum-Mor biscuits.

The Times asked Thulo to keep a food diary for two days and here's what she ate:

Monday: Toasted seed bread with tuna, protein shakes, Pure Protein chocolate bar, Eet-Sum-Mor biscuits, salmon roses, and chicken breasts with veggies for dinner.

Tuesday: Toasted seed bread with fried egg and smoked ham, protein shakes, prawn chow mein, salmon roses, cinnamon buns (naughty).

Laughing, she said: "The weird thing is I know I have lost fat, but I have gained a lot of muscle. The scale has remained at the exact same mark for the past few months, but the mirror and my energy levels show me different, great results."

Thulo counts herself as a "fan" of USN supplements and said she is "extremely humbled and excited" to be one of the celebrity faces of the brand.
