NYDA is a cash cow for the dishonest
"Young guns create debt nightmare" (September 27) refers.
Certainly we should not waste good money on wasteful projects.
The National Youth Development Agency is a wonderful idea, if implemented and controlled by people who have the skill and willingness to do so.
It is unacceptable and scandalous that this programme should become the new cash cow for the dishonest and incompetent at the expense of the deserving young.
It isclear from your report that again, an inefficient CEO, in all likelihood a political appointee, allegedly profited through an unwarranted handsome salary package.
Sadly, through such uncontrolled, careless, ill-thought-through and mismanaged programmes, our youth will learn little - only how to squander and waste money without justification and reason. It is disastrous that a government should fail in such programmes through the tolerance of incompetence, dishonesty and disregard for rules and behaviour for a sound business environment.
The youth development programme must not be seen as a way of self-enrichment.
