Mafikizolo owned the SA Music Awards but other celebrities must have heaved a sigh of relief that they had a shot at winning something - in the fashion stakes.

As one would expect on the local music industry's biggest night, a slew of big names pitched up in their best frocks and tuxedos. Some left us wishing that burst geysers had kept them at home.

The cleaners at the Sun City Superbowl must still be removing the drool from the carpets attributable to admirers of Pearl Modiadie.

She again hooked up with young Johannesburg designer Inga Madyibi for her sizzling red-carpet look. Though Madyibi and Modiadie are not quite Jean Paul Gaultier and Madonna, the designer certainly knows his muse. He put her in a gorgeous high-waisted figure-hugging skirt with a bra top and a feathered mini jacket that showed off her toned figure to perfection.

Zonke, who already breaks the mould with her shaved head, must have decided that designers are boring and styled herself in a grey Tiger of Sweden suit and tie. She looked lovely, especially because she looked different from all the rest. Daring? Not as much you'd think; we saw her pull off a shimmery pants suit at the Metro FM Awards in 2012 too.

Can we assume Nandi Mngoma is a major fan of Lupita Nyong'o? She already has a similar deep, side-parted afro and appears to be emulating the Oscar winner's monochrome preference. Mngoma followed up the white high-collar dress she wore earlier in the day with a red flowing Kluk CGDT for the red carpet in the evening.

iFani, winner of the best rap album title on the night, has an infectious smile and swagger , but we hope his chequered tablecloth look doesn't catch on - because it was horrible. We won't even talk about his furry bedroom slippers.

It's been more than 24 hours since the awards night and we still don't know how to describe Generations actress Zikhona Sodlaka's get-up. So we won't. Judge for yourself.
