Medical records purported to be those of Michael Schumacher have been offered for sale and officials are investigating the theft, his agent said, one week after the seven-time F1 champ came out of a coma.

The German, who suffered severe head injuries in a ski accident in the French Alps in December, was transferred from Grenoble in France to a Swiss medical centre on June 16.

"The documents are clearly stolen. The theft has been reported," said Sabine Kehm, managing director of Schumacher's offices in Geneva, on Monday.

Charges would be sought against those involved in the illegal sale or publication of the records, she said.

A spokesman for the Swiss hospital where the German is being treated had "no comment" on the case.
