HIS MOTHER'S SON: Charity founder Prince Harry

He is the fourth in line to the throne and an accomplished pilot, but for one Chilean family Prince Harry will always be known as the man who fixed their telly.

On Saturday, on a visit to a slum outside the former capital, Valparaiso, the prince showed his practical side by mending the family's TV just in time for them to watch the Brazil v Chile match in the World Cup.

He was in the village of El Vergel with the charity Techo to see how the community is being rebuilt following a forest fire in April that destroyed nine in 10 of the homes.

Inside the shack of Coca Perez, 50, and her two children, Harry noticed that their television was not working properly.

"He started to fiddle with the cable," said Perez. "He managed to get it working so we could watch Chile playing Brazil later. Now I can tell everyone that Prince Harry is my TV repairman!"

Outside, Harry was told villagers had electricity, portable toilets and water. He told Perez: "The worst seems to be over and now it's just a case of waiting."

She replied: "We just have to wait and be patient. We have no choice."
