Taegrin Morris was a charmer who grabbed everyone's attention every time he walked into his classroom.

Veronica Nunn considered Taegrin her son because, for the three years of his short life, she was his pre-school teacher.

Nunn was speaking at Taegrin's memorial service at Reiger Park on the East Rand last night.

She said once, when a principal visited, he asked if he could pose a question to her.

"He asked the principal what size shoes were those because those were big feet," Nunn said.

Hundreds of people - including teachers, family members, politicians and pastors - attended the service.

Taegrin died in a botched hijacking on Saturday night.

Brigadier Jacobus van der Westhuizen, the cluster commander for Brakpan, told mourners that the four-year-old's death, and that of a young girl, in the area were the worst he had seen in his entire career.

He said a year ago he and his men were called out to the murder scene of a girl. Last week, it was Taegrin's.

"In all my years of service, what I saw, you can't be strong enough [for]," he said.

He assured the community that the police would arrest the boy's killers. This brought a cheer from those who had gathered.

The hall was packed and outside 1500 people gathered to listen.

Van der Westhuizen appealed to the community not to use the social media to try to solve the case and sentence innocent people.

Ekurhuleni's Executive Mayor, Mondli Gungubele, said he had instructed his staff to lead the 'Enough is Enough' campaign, which will target crime and drug abuse in the township.

Reiger Park has seen a spate of hijackings of late.

One of the victims, Junelle Williams, took the stand and told of her ordeal.

Unlike Taegrin, she and her family were able to escape.

Police spokesman Colonel Noxolo Kweza last night said there were no new developments in the police investigation into the hijacking.

Taegrin will be buried tomorrow.

This afternoon the community will take part in a "black Friday" march. It will start in Daisy Street, where the hijacking took place, and proceed to Boksburg Lake, where Taegrin's body was found.
