AmaZulu on Pirates' stoep, again

The sometimes wasteful Orlando Pirates face yet another daunting task against AmaZulu tonight.

The match is scheduled for Orlando Stadium, Soweto, where former Bucs striker Bongani "Drogba" Ndulula scored the only goal in the corresponding fixture last season.

Bucs lost 2-1 to Moroka Swallows two weeks ago at the same venue.

AmaZulu and Pirates are still to win a league match this season - a cause for concern for Pirates coach Vladimir "VV" Vermezovic.

VV is relieved that Pirates scored two goals and won the MTN8 semifinal first leg against Bidvest Wits last weekend, but is now looking for consistency from his players.

The only point Pirates have collected to date was when they played to a 2-2 draw against Bloemfontein Celtic away last week.

Usuthu started their league campaign with a goalless draw against Ajax Cape Town and went down 2-1 to Moroka Swallows.

AmaZulu, who are guided by former Pirates assistant coach Craig Rosslee, got four points from six in the two league fixtures against Bucs last season.

Pirates yesterday confirmed that Lehlogonolo Masalesa and Tlou Segolela are available for selection after recovering from knocks.

Another senior citizen, Siyabonga Sangweni, has since been given the captain's armband. Swallows host wounded defending champions Mamelodi Sundowns at the Dobsonville Stadium tonight.

The clubs have had contrasting starts to the new season. The Birds claimed back-to-back wins, including their opener against Bucs. Sundowns have yet to win a match.
