Five days after premiering at local cinemas, young director Zee Ntuli's debut feature film, Hard To Get, has been selected for next month's London Film Festival, though it will not be in competition for the top prize.

Hard To Get was the opening film of the 35th annual Durban International Film Festival held in July.

The 25-year-old director said: "Since Durban it's been an incredible ride. It's largely out of my hands now that the film is out there, so I feel honoured we're going to London. It's an incredible opportunity and I'm glad we can gauge international reaction."

The thriller was released at local cinemas last Friday.

Hard To Get tells the story of TK (Pallance Dladla, of Isibaya fame), a handsome womaniser who falls for a sexy, reckless thief named Skiets (Thishiwe Ziqubu).

Ntuli said he is already working on a new script with the same team that worked on Hard To Get.

Annalet Steenkamp's I, Afrikaner, which won Best Direction in an SA Documentary at the Durban festival, was also selected for the London Film Festival.

It documents an Afrikaner family trying to adjust to the changes that have taken place since democracy.

Other South African co-productions to be screened in London include Life, But Is It A Dream, and African Metropolis.

The films in competition for Best Film are: Dearest,The Duke of Burgundy, The Falling, A Girl Walks Home Alone at Night, Girlhood, The Keeping Room, Leviathan, The New Girlfriend, Phoenix, The President, Song of a Gun and Timbuktu.
