Hundreds of people in San Francisco have joined a waiting list for a new exclusive online dating service that promises to cater only to the elite.

The League was reportedly started by a Stanford business school graduate, Amanda Bradford, and is billed as an app for people who are "super-busy and super-picky".

The service has been designed "for people who hate dating apps by people who hate dating apps".

An "advanced screening algorithm" will be used to ensure those allowed to join are "high-quality".

According to Business Week, there are 300 people on a waiting list for the app in San Francisco and 150 in New York. It is expected to launch in the coming weeks.
