Doctors treat women like 'birthing cows'

Thank you for validating something I have been moaning about for years ("Caesars safer - for doctors", yesterday).

When I went into hospital to have my son in 2005, I intended to give birth naturally. However, the doctor checked how far I had dilated, then told me my pelvis was too narrow for my son to pass through.

Since I was in so much pain and did not want to put my son in danger, I agreed to a C-section.

I felt cheated out of the birthing experience and doubted I was unable to accommodate a healthy 2.3kg baby in my pelvis.

I've heard similar stories from many of my friends. A doctor friend confirmed that C-sections are more convenient for doctors, who do not have to spend hours caring for a patient in labour.

These doctors should not treat us like birthing cows.
