Chains, whips, toys and everything cheeky is just what the doctor ordered this weekend, if yesterday's attendance at the Sexpo was anything to go by.

Condom manufacturer Durex had sold out by lunch time and had to re-stock.

Girlfriends Reneilwe Moloi, Tebello Mathibe, Angela Peters and Dineo Moitsemang, all 26, came to the show to celebrate Mathibe's birthday.

"It is my first time here ... I thought I'd come across all kinds of sleaze. I can't wait to bring my boyfriend," said Peters.

The friends giggled after admitting to having sneaked away from work in Pretoria to find out what the Sexpo had in store for the modern young lady.

"Our boss called and she understood when we explained that we wanted to surprise Tebello with the little trip to what I call 'Candyland'," said Moitsemang.

The Sexpo, at Gallagher Estate, in Midrand, ends on Sunday.

Married couple Derik and Carolin Stemmet drove from Limpopo to see what their "one and only exhibition" had in store for them this year.

The Stemmets' first stop was at Pricasso's studio to have their portraits painted.

The artist uses his penis in preference to a brush.

They said attending the Sexpo was one of their ways of keeping the spark alive in their marriage.

"If you don't make things exciting, you will eventually get bored [with each other]," said Carolin.

Those who get a kick out of pain were eager to get a whipping from a professional dominatrix in the Different Strokes area.

Mistress Paige said businesses specialising in offering bondage, discipline, sadism and masochism were having a hard time.

"The clientele has decreased in the last four years because of online communities such as FetLife," she said.

Mistress Paige doesn't come cheap - an hour of her attentions costs R1500. Some of her clients, she said, demand four hours of her time.
