Economic Freedom Fighters leader Julius Malema could face charges of assault and crimen injuria following an alleged racial attack in a restaurant in Tzaneen, Limpopo.

Cassie Moller, a manager at a cupboard-fitting company in Tzaneen, claims Malema slapped and swore at him, shouting: "F*** you, you boer! F*** you. I will f*** you up."

CCTV footage released by AfriForum shows Malema slapping Moller on the back before pushing him.

"His tone of voice clearly showed his intention to use the word [boer] in a derogatory manner," Moller said in a statement submitted to Tzaneen police yesterday.

The incident took place during the early hours of August 6.

Limpopo police spokesman Colonel Ronel Otto said the docket would be sent to the director of public prosecutions for a decision.

EFF spokesman Mbuyiseni Ndlozi said Malema witnessed Moller swearing at black female workers, and told him to stop.
