PACKING A PUNCH: DJ Sbu shares his secrets to success

Convicted speedster and Metro FM DJ, S'busiso Leope, has made representations to the National Prosecuting Authority on his second speeding case. Also in the same court was Supersport United midfielder Ennocent Mkhabela

Popularly known as DJ Sbu, the former YFM DJ, who also presented the SABC1 television game show Friends Like These, appeared in the Hatfield community court in Pretoria today. His case was postponed to next month for outcomes of his representations.

He was nabbed on N1 near the Lynwood exit in Pretoria last on September 14 (2014) for driving his Range Rover at 170Km/h on a 120Km/h zone.

Leope, who is out on R700 bail, was reportedly rushing to Polokwane to attend a summer gig organised by Metro FM when he was nabbed.

According to a court official, Leope "made representations to chief magistrate Matric Luphondo" on October 3.

In 2007 the popular DJ was nabbed for driving at nearly 260km/h in a 120km/h zone in his sponsored Audi TT on the N1 near Grasmere toll gate, South of Johannesburg.

He was found guilty and sentenced to nine months in prison, suspended for three years, and slapped with a R7000 fine or six months in jail.

  • Also in the same court was Supersport United midfielder Ennocent Mkhabela, who was arrested early this month for driving on the wrong lane in Hatfield, Pretoria, and refusing to produce his drivers licence.

A senior prosecutor said the footballer and the state “reached an amicable agreement on the dispute” but would not give details.
