WE DID ponder who would be brave enough to snap up the more risqué looks from Tom Ford's "sex-on-a-plate" spring 2015 collection, but where celebrities and red carpets are concerned it was clear that there would be only two contenders.

Cue Rihanna, 26, and Miley Cyrus, 21.

The former has already bared her nipples in public and the other spends most of the time in public states of near-nudity, so it makes sense that they would be first out of the blocks in Ford's provocative outfits at the amfAR Inspiration Gala in Los Angeles on Wednesday night.

Ford's collection has been described as making "Victoria's Secret look Victorian" .

Rihanna chose a "chalk silk gown with a metallic flower embroidered bust" (read: a cut-out dress with elaborate nipple pasties), while Cyrus picked a "black rectangle sequinned embroidery on organza" (read: did they run out of sequins before they could complete the rest?).

Also in attendance was Gwyneth Paltrow, who opted for a sensible black double-breasted tuxedo jacket and trousers.

Both Rihanna and Cyrus proceeded to enjoy the fund-raising dinner without a care and Cyrus even sat next to her seemingly unflustered mother, Trish.

And all this from a designer who until a few seasons ago was against showing his collections publicly for fear of customers getting bored with his clothes.

No one is getting bored, but the designs are not meant for winter.
