An Australian TV host has said he wore the same suit on-screen for a year with no one noticing.

Karl Stefanovic deliberately wore the navy Burberry knock-off suit every morning on Channel Nine's Today show to prove men are not judged on their looks as harshly as women.

Stefanovic, 40, told Fairfax Media: "No one has noticed; no one gives a s***. But women, they wear the wrong colour and they get pulled up.

"Women are judged much more harshly and keenly for what they do, what they say and what they wear."

Stefanovic's co-host, Lisa Wilkinson, regularly attracts comments on her looks and clothing choices, which is what sparked his sexism experiment.

He began by wearing the same blue suit on air for two days in a row, and then three. After a month passed and no one noticed anything, he carried on for a year.
