US soul singer Amel Larrieux has promised fans a "turn up", when she headlines the Cape Town International Jazz Festival, at the end of March.

The term "turn up", which simply means getting wild, may go above the heads of many of the festival's patrons but it's also a sign that the festival has started to attract a younger crowd.

Also on the roster are: Sipho "Hotstix" Mabuse, the Gerald Clayton Trio, Naima Kay, Beatenberg, The Brother Moves On, Wallace Roney Quintent featuring Lenny White and Buster Williams, Zoe Modiga, and a Mahotella Queens 50th Anniversary Celebration with special guests.

Larrieux tweeted: "I'm so hyped by your response,SA! Its gonna be #TURNT @CTJazzFest #CapeTown #SouthAfrica #music is #love."

She is the fourth US female soul star in as many years to headline the popular festival - Erykah Badu, Jill Scott and Lauryn Hill came before her.

More artists will be announced at a later stage.

The festival is expected to attract around 38000 fans. It will take place on March 27 and 28, at the Cape Town International Convention Centre. Ticket prices are R860 for a weekend pass and R530 for a day pass and are already on sale via Computicket.
