Any suggestions that Kaizer Chiefs are going off the boil were put to rest by last night's polished 3-0 Absa Premiership dismissal of Wits University at Bidvest Stadium.

Bernard Parker scored his first goal of the season in the 20th minute, Mulomowandau Mathoho added a second for Chiefs in the 38th before Parker conjured a candidate for goal of the season in the 70th.

Chiefs coach Stuart Baxter brought Mathoho in at centre-back for Morgan Gould from last week's 0-0 draw away to Polokwane City.

Wits coach Gavin Hunt made three changes from a 2-1 away victory against Black Aces. Moeneeb Josephs was in goal for Jackson Mabokgwane, and Siyabonga Nhlapo and Sthembiso Ngcobo replaced Buhle Mkhwanazi and Henrico Botes respectively.

Mazola Molefe reports that the four-goal thriller at Lucas Moripe Stadium between Mamelodi Sundowns and Supersport United was given extra flavour. Thuso Phala was given a straight red card on the hour for elbowing Khama Billiat, who scored one of the three goals for the Brazilians seconds before half-time.

United, fresh from being crowned Telkom Knockout champions, were brought down to earth by crosstown rivals Sundowns.

Dove Wome put his side ahead when he beat the offside trap and fired past goalkeeper Kennedy Mweene. But Downs equalised through Billiat, with his first of the season.

Minutes before that leveller, Supersport lost top goalscorer Wome to a hamstring injury.

Downs took advantage and a counter-attack resulted in Teko Modise's cross finding Themba Zwane, who netted the rebound from his header.

Modise added his own name to the scoring sheet with a long-range strike in the 74th minute to make it 3-1 and maximum points.

In other games last night, Free State Stars beat Bloemfontein Celtic 1 - 0, Chippa United drew 2-2 with Black Aces, Moroka Swallows drew 1-all with Ajax Cape Town and Polokwane City beat Platinum Stars 2-1.
