Nicki Minaj, the bootylicious rapper, has turned her hand to modelling, lending her New York sass to the Roberto Cavalli spring/ summer 2015 campaign.

Minaj's voluptuous derriere is what piqued the eye of the 74-year-old Florentine mogul Roberto Cavalli.

"In recent years, we have become accustomed to women castigated in clothes that hide their body shapes," he says.

"With this campaign, I wanted to send a strong counter-trend message. I wanted a sensual woman who is aware of her body, who is not afraid to show her curves, rather she makes them a strength."

Photographer Francesco Carrozzini captured the hit-maker in a set of images that evoke the luxurious, jet-set lifestyle of the Cavalli woman who is already planning her next sun-soaked jaunt.

Showcasing zebra-print gowns and embroidered crop tops, Minaj, 32, is a natural in front of the camera.

The fact that she has a mega-hit with Anaconda and Cavalli's logo is a snake reinforces the brand's belief that this is a match made in campaign heaven.

The Milan Fashion Week label is also in the news for business reasons. Reports that a majority stake in the business could be snapped up by Italian private equity firm Clessidra SGR are gathering pace.

Earlier this year, it was thought that the Russian firm VTB Capital was close to striking a deal but talks fell through.

A takeover could lead to Cavalli being relegated to the role of shareholder and adviser, paving the way for a new creative head. The company is valued at over $1-billion.
