The hottest shows on the small screen dished up some wicked quotes this year

Breaking Bad

The most famous Walter White (Bryan Cranston) quote is celebrated on T-shirts everywhere. Breaking Bad writer Gennifer Hutchison, who wrote episode six of season four, said she had no idea the monologue would become iconic.

The quote in full: ''You clearly don't know who you're talking to, so let me clue you in. I am not in danger, Skyler. I am the danger. A guy opens his door and gets shot, and you think that of me? No! I am the one who knocks!"

Second-best TV quote of the year is when White, as druglord Heisenberg, tells his brother-in-law: ''If that's true - if you don't know who I am - then maybe your best course is to tread lightly."

Game of Thrones

Delivering what is a contender for monologue of the year in season four of Game of Thrones, Tyrion Lannister (Peter Dinklage) tells his sister what was on every viewer's mind while he was on trial for the murder of his nephew King Joffrey (Jack Gleeson): "Watching your vicious bastard die gave me more relief than a thousand lying whores."

House of Cards

The machinations of Claire (Robin Wright) and Frank (Kevin Spacey) Underwood in season two of House of Cards induced binge-watching because of quotes like these: "I'm willing to let your child wither and die inside you if that's what's required." - Claire

"I've done what I have to do. Now you do what you have to do. Seduce him, give him your heart. Cut it out and put it in his f***ing hands!" - Claire

"A great man once said everything is about sex. Except sex. Sex is about power." - Frank

The walking dead

With half the cast climbing through hell and risking life and limb to get him to his lab where he could save the world, Eugene Porter (Josh McDermitt) dropped this bombshell: "I am not a scientist. I lied. I don't know how to stop it."

No episode of The Walking Dead is ever complete without a chorus of ''Rrrrr" from a shambling choir of the undead.
