A man wielding a pair of scissors stabbed three people in a grocery store in Boston, Bellville, Cape Town, yesterday.

He first approached the bakery section of the Pick n Pay franchise store, where he attacked a customer, stabbing her nine times. He later attacked a bakery assistant, whom he stabbed in the neck and the back.

When a merchandiser confronted the 45-year-old man, he stabbed him too. It is understood that the assailant is a regular customer at the store.

Pick n Pay confirmed that the man was apprehended by store security and arrested by the police.

The injured people were admitted to hospital. Police spokesman FC van Wyk said a case of intent to do grievous bodily harm had been opened.
