North Korea wants South African tourists and businessmen to "flood" the country.

Yesterday representatives of the pseudo-Stalinist state went on a charm offensive to woo South Africans and attempted to dispel "mistruths" about human rights abuses, prison camps for dissidents, mass starvation and megalomania.

The country was portrayed as having world-class water parks, ski slopes and hotels, as well as top-notch scientific and industrial research facilities.

North Korean ambassador Jo Yong Man said South Africans "can come at any time and any day, with no restrictions; you can even come right now".

Americans are not so welcome. Man said: "They have driven us to acquire nuclear weapons with their colonialist tendencies."
