Sunette 'hate speech' goes to trial

Afrikaans singer Sunette Bridges will fight a hate speech allegation against her made by the SA Human Rights Commission in the Equality Court. Talks to settle the matter out of court collapsed yesterday.The commission accuses Bridges of hosting hate speech commentary on her Facebook page.Bridges is Afrikaans singer Bles Bridges' daughter and a prominent member of the Red October movement, which publicises the murder of whites as "genocide".Bridges turned down the HRC offer of an out-of-court settlement when the matter was first heard in January. The parties met yesterday in Judge Siraj Desai's chambers in an attempt to reach a settlement but failed.Desai postponed the matter to April 20 for trial...
