South African comedian Trevor Noah will be smiling all the way to the bank as the new host of The Daily Show if the pay of his predecessor, Jon Stewart, is anything to go by. Although his pay cheque might not yet match Stewart's, Noah's final package is likely to put him in the lead on the list of the highest-earning South African comedians.Comedy Central this week announced that Noah, 31, would take over from Stewart, who is retiring from the satirical talk show after hosting it for 17 years.US news website Business Insider in February reported that Stewart, 52, was earning between $25-million and $35-million a year, making him the highest-paid late-night TV personality.Taking second spot is David Letterman, with $20-million for his CBS show.Conan O'Brien, Jimmy Fallon and Chelsea Handler raked in $12-million, $11-million and $10-million respectively.John Oliver, of HBO's Last Week Tonight, is the lowest-paid late-night TV host in the US, earning a paltry $2-million a year.Noah's appointment was not without its fair share of negativity. Some Twitter users went on the rampage after his appointment and some of his 2009 and 2011 tweets were resurrected. One of the tweets reads : "Almost bumped a Jewish kid crossing the road. He didn't look b4 crossing but I still ... felt so bad in my German car!"..
