Xulu sends SOS to Fifa

10 April 2015 - 02:45 By Nick Said

Siyanda Xulu's stay at Russian Premier League side FC Rostov looks to be coming to an end. The club seems to be stalling on playing him for fear of triggering a clause in his contract that would lead to a big cash payout to the Bafana Bafana defender.Xulu has been in dispute with FC Rostov for months as the cash-strapped club battles to pay players, including the defender. The Times understands that Xulu is preparing to take the matter to Fifa in the coming weeks.By doing so he hopes to be awarded the remainder of his contract and to be allowed to leave the club as soon as possible.Xulu missed last night's league clash against Ufa because of injury. But sources say his recent lack of game-time comes down to clauses in his contract, which allegedly stipulate that he receives bonuses for the number of games played. If he plays three more matches, it is understood he could receive a bonus of up to $100000 (approximately R1.2-million).This season has been a major step backwards for the former Mamelodi Sundowns defender. As a result, he is seeking a move back to the Premier Soccer League - unless an exciting new opportunity opens up in Europe.Xulu and the club's other African players were the subject of racist comments from former coach Igor Gamula in November. At the time, Gamula was quoted in the media as saying the club had "enough dark-skinned players, we've got six of the things".Gamula lost his job over theblunder. Xulu is in his third season at FC Rostov but has managed just 27 starts in that time...
