New breath test predicts stomach cancer

A breath test that can predict the chance of developing stomach cancer has been produced by Israeli scientists. At present, symptoms of stomach cancer are often mistaken for those of other complaints. T here is no early screening test so it is usually diagnosed too late .But a new test senses tiny changes in the amount of certain organic compounds in exhaled breath, which signals that stomach cancer is present.Researchers analysed breath samples from more than 400 volunteers who had been diagnosed with cancer or in whom pre-cancerous cells had been found."The attraction of this test is its rapidity, " said Professor Hossam Haick, of the Russell Berrie Nanotechnology Institute, in Haifa. ..
