Pelembe deal sours at Downs

Negotiations with Elias Pelembe over a new contract have stalled, admits Mamelodi Sundowns coach Pitso Mosimane. The likelihood is now that one of the country's most highly paid players will be headed out of the Sundowns door at the end of the season."I think they've reached a stalemate with Pelembe," said Mosimane of his club's dealings with the Mozambican international."There are other good players at Sundowns. We love Pelembe, but, if he is not going to stay, we'll have to continue," he said.Reports had Pelembe's last contract valued at R3-million annually, effectively guaranteeing him a monthly salary of R250000.The dilemma now for Pelembe, 30, known as Dominguez in his home country, is that he is unlikely to get anything approaching the same salary from another Premier Soccer League club, especially after spending most of the season out of favour and on the sidelines.In this campaign he has started only nine league matches and three in cup competitions and has only scored a single goal...
