As a "joke", a teenage girl was lured onto a Cambodian variety show with the hope of being reunited with her long-lost mother only to be mocked by a comedian in drag, Sky News has reported on its website. Autumn Allen, 13, appeared on a special Mother' s Day edition of Penh Chet Ort (Like It Or Not). Autumn told viewers she had not seen her mother since she and her father left the US to return to Cambodia. She wept as she recounted their last meeting: "She held me and kissed me and told me that she would always love me."The Sky News report stated that, after a prolonged and emotional build-up to making her dream come true, the person who walked onto the stage was cross-dressing comedian Chuop Rolin.According to Sky News, a presenter then told Allen: "What are you thinking? Did you think it was real?"Social media users have put the boot into the producers, who have been forced to apologise. The outrage on social media was immediate and scathing. Even independent political analyst Ou Virak weighed in, stating: " The producer was stupid and brainless and heartless ."Allen managed to keep her composure on the show."Initially I was disappointed, but Rolin made me laugh so I had fun on the show."My dad was very proud of how I handled myself in that situation."She added: "I tried to contact my mother several times when we moved to Cambodia but she kept changing her phone number." ..
