Rose gets plucked by the Hawks

Legendary South African boxer Dingaan Thobela's alleged failure to pay out funeral policyholders led to a Hawks investigation and his arrest this week. Hawks spokesman Brigadier Hangwani Mulaudzi said that irate customers had approached the specialised investigation unit for assistance."Funeral policies were not being paid out, and that is when we found out that his funeral parlour was not registered as a financial service adviser," said Mulaudzi.The boxer, known as the Rose of Soweto, was arrested for allegedly contravening the Financial Advisory and Intermediary Services Act.He appeared in the Specialised Commercial Crimes Court in Johannesburg on Tuesday and was released on R3000 bail.The case was postponed until next month.The Rose retired from boxing in 2008 after a career in which he won the WBO lightweight title in 1990.In 2008, the Sowetan newspaper interviewed several customers of Thobela's Rose Funeral Undertakers who claimed their relatives had not been buried, despite the fact that they had paid for the service.Mulaudzi said he was unsure if these allegations were part of the case...
