Call for car guards to get training and an official ticket

The car guard you entrust your vehicle with could be a criminal. The Private Security Regulatory Authority's communications, registration and training deputy director, Mpho Mofikoe, said yesterday that every car guard should possess a Grade E security certificate, however less than 18000 are in fact registered.Most car guards do not earn a basic salary and cannot afford training.City of Johannesburg spokesman Nthatisi Modingoane yesterday said the city bylaws did not stipulate that car guards had to be registered.An unregistered car guard operating in Umhlanga Rocks in KwaZulu-Natal said: " I need to feed myself. I can't waste money on registration. No one has asked to see my registration. Why is it a problem now?"..
