As the qualifiers come thick and fast for South African national football teams, the focus switches to the women's under-20 team, who started a training camp yesterday for their World Cup qualifying game against Botswana in Dobsonville on Sunday. Basetsana are hoping to win a first World Cup place and start their long journey to Papua New Guinea next year under coach Sheryl Botes.Initially, South Africa were due to host this competition, but withdrew and must now go through qualifying.Training started with the side having been largely inactive since they were knocked out of the previous World Cup qualifiers by Nigeria, a country they will probably meet again this year.Victory over Botswana over two legs will set up a meeting with either Tanzania or Zambia. That is where Nigeria will lie in wait - in the third and final round of qualifying - with unhappy memories for Botes after Basetsana were thumped 7-0 on aggregate when they met early last year...
