It seems like a case of deja vu for Generations - The Legacy. It all seems to be happening again after three lead actresses, who joined the show in December last year, have not had their contracts renewed, say sources.Denise Zimba, Asanda Foji and Ivy Nkutha have apparently been axed from the show because their roles were no longer deemed necessary. The Times has reliably learnt the trio were let go during recent contract negotiations. The sources also say other Generations actors have not had their contracts renewed.Zimba, who plays the role of Mary, who is pregnant with Tau and Karabo Moroka's child, joined the soapie last year. She was part of the original cast and was given a more prominent role when 16 principal actors were fired last September.Foji and Nkutha play Simphiwe and Gog Flo respectively. Foji's Simphiwe is the wife of Mazwi Moroka, heir apparent to the Moroka empire, while Nkutha was the matriarch of the Diale family.Gaaratwe Mokethi, Generations - The Legacy's publicity manager, said it was not out of the ordinary for the drama to let go of actors. "We are in contract negotiations. At this time of year contracts are reviewed and depending on the story certain actors stay and others go."Mokheti added the drama was focused on keeping viewers gripped by changing its storyline."Our biggest loyalty is in advancing the story and keeping our viewers entertained and that's the reason we keep introducing new and fresh stories," she said.Reaction to the axing of the actors was mixed on social media. Guwela Mongwe opined on Facebook that Generations executive producer Mfundi Vundla should bring back the former cast."Vundla must swallow his pride and recall the sacked actors. The remaining actors won't make a difference."Tumelo Mabuza disagreed, stating that Generations - The Legacy was entertaining and better than its predecessor."Mary plays a great part, though. I love The Legacy. There is a reason why it is top of the list of the most watched soapies in South Africa," said Mabuza.Generations is still television's leading soapie with 5.8million viewers, followed by Uzalo with 5.7million, and Skeem Saam, which has a total of 5.5million viewers tuning in daily, according to Ditshego Media, a public relations company that analyses and publishes local television viewership statistics...
