You are sitting in a public space dreamily enjoying the ebb and flow of existence when you are suddenly gripped by an ominous tightness. If you are a post-pubescent man then you will be familiar with the dread that follows as your trouser snake rears up to escape its denim cage. There are contingency plans for this eventuality that include: staying seated until the rush of blood subsides, walking around with your hands in your pockets strategically concealing the evidence or using your manbag to veil your curious protuberance. None of these methods is fail-safe. But the people behind Bloxers have invented a method that is.Inspired by Leonardo Da Vinci's marble fig-leaf, Bloxers are a pair of boxer shorts that hide your erection."Our new product centres on keeping you or the men in your life from experiencing the negative effects of what is essentially a good thing," said one of the inventors of Bloxers, Marta Mariño Maza, in their fundraising pitch. Each pair is essentially a garden variety pair of boxer shorts equipped with a "deflector shield". This shield is a hypoallergenic stretch of fabric sewn along the inseam and around the leg. The fabric covers the whole crotch area, thus keeping your beef whistle from drawing too much attention to itself.''Available in small, medium, and large, Bloxers offer three versions of the design to accommodate different guys. There's a shield designed for those who swing to the left, one for those who swing to the right, and another for those somewhere in between." say the designers. As yet, Bloxers are not available in stores but they are in production and the team behind them has set up an Indiegogo - online fundraising website - account with the hopes of raising R250000 to get their product off the ground.Bloxers retail at around R600 for two pairs of righty, lefty, or switch hitter. For more information or to donate to Bloxers visit www.indiegogo.com/projects/ bloxers..
