Maniac-about-organic Gubeka is carving out his own niche Inga Gubeka is an industrial designer who loves wood. The 26-year-old was born in Nqeleni in Eastern Cape and raised in Durban, where he studied interior design.What is Indalo Decor?An industrial design studio that specialises in commissions. We make custom interior products, commercial products and promotional products. Indalo by Inga is a sub-brand of Indalo Decor that produces accessories such as wooden canvas bags, iPhone cases, iPad stands, lampshades, clocks, belts and small leather goods.Why do you enjoy working with wood?It is timeless, eco-friendly and it just looks so good.What other materials do you use?Leather, cork, perspex and canvas.What's your best design and who was it made for?Custom wooden carrier bags for El Jimado tequilaTell us more about your bags and your cellphone covers.Our bags are made from super wood with different finishes like oak, bamboo and ash.The cellphone covers come in the same woods.Your dream commission?A bag in which to carry the Africa Cup of Nations trophy, just as a Louis Vuitton bag is used to carry the soccer World CupWhat has been your most important project?The project I did with DHK Architects for a corporate group - I designed custom bags that are used as laptop lockers and charging points.Your inspiration?Mostly comes from nature, so I love working with natural materials.And the decor?I work according to briefs making objects such as modern TV stands, home bars and coffee tables.What are you working on now?A commission with an alcohol brand that I will not mention yet because it is confidential information. We're making products for it instead of shelves in a retail environment. ..
