Pollard 'must stay put at 10'

Handré Pollard should keep the Springbok No10 jersey despite the patchy form he has shown over the past fortnight in the green and gold. Former Bok flyhalf Butch James backed national team coach Heyneke Meyer's decision to stick with Pollard as the starting pivot at Ellis Park tomorrow.Pollard's kicking has come under scrutiny from the two previous outings. There have been calls to give Patrick Lambie, who will again be the backup stand-off this weekend, a run."Pollard has not had the best time in the past two games, but I still think he can do the job," James said yesterday in Pretoria. "I like Lambie at fullback."The 2007 World Cup-winning flyhalf added that there was reason to be concerned about the kicking form of the incumbent No10s.It had left the door open for the possibility of calling on veteran flyhalf Morné Steyn to return to contention for the position, he said.James added that Lions pivot Elton Jantjies was also a name to consider ahead of the World Cup, making it a four-way race for the spot in the World Cup squad, but Pollard remains his frontrunner for the starting berth."If Heyneke Meyer knows that Pollard will be the starting No10 and who the back-up will be then he should stick to playing them," James said...
