In a World Cup year, the Currie Cup suffers from relegation syndrome, but it still remains an important tournament for the Sharks and for Wentzel in particular. In the twilight of his career, Wentzel finds himself back in the tournament and, in all likelihood, to continue in his role as captain. The Sharks named a 33-man squad for their hit-out against the Golden Lions in Pietermaritzburg tonight.Wentzel will start the game alongside the improving Etienne Oosthuizen, while a strong front row in Lourens Adriaanse, Monde Hadebe and Dale Chadwick was named.Michael Claassens and Joe Pietersen will be the starting halfbacks, but all eyes will be on the return of Pieter-Steph du Toit, who is on the bench.Du Toit had a knee injury.Wentzel is excited by the young talent coming through and hopes they will use the tournament to make a name for themselves."We've brought in some very exciting young players, but there are also some senior players in the mix who are itching to contribute. They have gelled well, which is the most important thing," Wentzel said...
