'Stop demeaning SA women - we deserve better'

Public Protector Thuli Madonsela, playing radio host for a day, yesterday challenged male politicians to stop using language that demeans women. "Whether in trade unions, domestic work or women in power, the language of violence continues to suppress women," she said on PowerFM's breakfast show.Madonsela and other leaders have been vilified for their looks, weight and leadership skills.Former DA parliamentary leader Lindiwe Mazibuko, Public Enterprises Minister Lynne Brown and mayor of Cape Town Patricia de Lille are among those subjected to sexist remarks by male politicians.Dubbed DJ Public Protector, Madonsela took calls from listeners about her experiences after releasing her report on the "security upgrades" to President Jacob Zuma's Nkandla homestead."As a woman of faith, I believe I wouldn't be able to do it if it wasn't for the love the public shows my office.
