Meyer has not hidden his admiration for the blindside flanker, despite an array of players like Teboho Mohoje, Siya Kolisi and Warren Whiteley begging for a regular place in the back row.Smith, 34, also reportedly told Meyer after his last test that he didn't feel 100% conditioned for Test rugby and promptly ruled himself out of international selection. But a year is a long time in Meyer's world."I did get a call from Heyneke Meyer after I retired from international rugby asking me to come back but it was a tough call for me," Smith said."For the guys playing overseas, one or two of them will have problems with their contract and the president of the club they play for."I was very happy to join [the squad] when Heyneke called, but for my contract with Toulon."Meyer has his hands full juggling the names of whichloose forwards to take to the UK next month. He has already indicated that, of the final 31 players he will name in Durban on August 28, five will be loose forwards but after the shock loss to Argentina at King's Park last Saturday, chances are now high that Meyer will pack the loose- forward department with as much experience as possible. And Smith agrees that that will be the way to go...
