Four years after opening its first store in Cape Town, fashion label Strato has unveiled a Johannesburg branch. The store is in the heart of downtown Jozi and Maloti Mothobi, the creative spirit behind Strato, says the inner city creates a great environment for people to come and experience the brand and ''flirt" with the gorgeous garments it stocks."Marshalltown is becoming a sort of hub for Africa's creative spirit," he said. "This is a big step for me and a daring move for my label."Strato (slang for ''street") fuses influences from sport, music and fashion to create pieces that portray street culture in a distinctive way.The brand caters for fashion-conscious women and trendy men. It has a strong focus on clean silhouettes and bold colours, often reflecting a nostalgic look at 1980s style.Strato has appeared on catwalks at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Cape Town and at the Design Indaba.
