Three held for train firebomb

Three men were arrested for arson after a train caught fire at Muizenberg station during yesterday's evening peak. Witnesses said three young men who were reportedly thrown off the train for having the wrong tickets allegedly threw an object back into a carriage, which caused the fire.Witness John Hishin, a photographer, said the fire spread to five or six carriages at about 5.30pm."They parted the train about in the middle and took the engine and front carriages away," he said.He said there was panic among passengers evacuating the train. "I saw one lady who came through the smoke and was suffering from smoke inhalation. She was taken to a nearby ambulance."Cape Town Fire and Rescue Service spokesman Theo Layne said firefighters had been forced to wait for electricity to be cut to overhead cables before they could tackle the blaze. No injuries were reported.Police spokesman André Traut said: "The circumstances are being investigated and an arson case has been opened."..
